What Science in Sport does well
Until June 2025, Science in Sport was an AIM-listed public limited company, and that listing required it to publish environmental data under UK regulatory obligations. Three years of carbon data covering direct and energy-related emissions had been reported to the UK Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting standard, and the brand held a “Carbon Neutral Business” designation via Carbon Neutral Britain offsets from 2021 onwards. Real Living Wage Foundation accreditation covers the directly-employed workforce. Full-range Informed Sport certification across both SiS and PhD product lines is one of the more comprehensive banned-substance programmes in the sector.
Where the gaps are
The historical evidence is the issue. Following the June 2025 acquisition by private equity firm bd-capital and removal from AIM, the corporate domain (sisplc.com) is no longer publicly accessible, and no 2025 ESG Report has appeared in the eleven months since. The current consumer site (scienceinsport.com) carries no environmental content of any kind: no carbon data, no sustainability page, no acknowledgement of the previous reporting programme. The mandatory disclosure obligations that drove the brand's relative transparency went with the AIM listing.
Verdict: Science in Sport is rated Listed under the Ethical Endurance Framework. Comprehensive Informed Sport certification and a Real Living Wage commitment are genuine positives, attached to a sustainability disclosure programme that has effectively gone dark since the bd-capital acquisition — an example of an ESG programme built on listing obligations rather than embedded practice.
