What Hoka does well
Hoka is assessed at its parent Deckers Brands' group level, because that's almost entirely how its disclosures are made - there's no separate Hoka report to draw on. Where Deckers applies an absolute policy with no exceptions - its PFAS ban, its Leather Working Group leather and wool sourcing standard, its SBTi-validated1 emissions target - that genuinely governs Hoka's own products and suppliers, so it counts as real evidence of Hoka's practice. What is genuinely Hoka's own is a dedicated vegan running-shoe line, and named recycled or bio-based content in specific models like the Skyline-Float X.
Where the gaps are
Where the evidence is a group-wide statistic - actual tonnes of carbon emitted, the percentage of footwear materials that are recycled, supplier audit ratings - it describes Deckers' four footwear brands (Hoka, UGG, Teva and Koolaburra) together, with no way to tell whether Hoka's own numbers sit above or below that average, so it isn't treated as evidence of Hoka's own record specifically. Governance is the one part of this assessment that isn't a data question at all - no B Corp3, no mission-locked structure, no certified giving commitment - and the living wage commitment Deckers first promised in 2021 is still only "in progress" five years on.
